Aaron Britt fell in love with pottery when he was a fifth-grader at Bennett Elementary School. At the age of 20 he became one of the few students of legendary Seagrove potter, Nell Cole Graves. He studied and refined his skills with Graves for 18 years, learning the traditional pottery methods of the Seagrove area.
In 2002 Aaron opened his own pottery shop on U. S. 220 Business just south of Asheboro NC . Continuing the traditions he learned from Nell, the shop displays a variety of utilitarian shapes, designs, and glazes as well as Aaron’s own spin on pottery – making. He also showcases the work of other area artists including sculpted pots, hand-painted pottery and specialty pieces incorporating Celtic designs.
A. R. Britt Pottery is conveniently located off 220 Bypass and offers three showrooms full of traditional, hand-crafted pottery. With his feet planted firmly in traditional methods, Aaron strives to expand his knowledge of pottery to create unique, functional, and quality pieces that appeal to a wide range of customers and collectors.
